LibriVox recording of The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame. Read by Cori Samuel.
A children's classic, this is the story of Rat and Mole, who have many adventures both on and off their beloved river, with their friends Toad and Badger. This version has been read in a whisper and is perfect for night-time listening in a quiet room. The low volume is intentional! (Summary by Cori Samuel)

What a brilliant idea!
Cori Samuel's whispered version is a cosy and intimate experience. When I say I fell asleep listening to this, it's a compliment. Many thanks.

the whispering is for me quite exasperating, nay more irritating. Perhaps I need my hearing tested. 4 stars for effort

I agree that the whispering won't work for everyone, but that's just a matter of taste. For some folks the intentional whispering will no doubt work. Perhaps alternating between Adrian Praetzellis' reading and this one. . .?

A technical malfunction? What? If you play this you just hear *whispering*!!!
If you do want to hear a great reading of this great book, go to the Adrian Praetzellis' version.
Add: Aug 27, 2013 - Ah so! I did not read the summary, Parsnip! Thanks for the correction. I removed my erroneous one star rating. How very unusual! Does it work well? According to Vox Humana it does. I shall try it out one quiet night.
PS My latest reviews seem to be going astray.

The reader has given us something uniquely satisfying. I listened to this at night and was instantly captivated. Any attempt to describe the experience would seem unduly strident - please try it for yourself.
